Do I need a guitar stand?

It is the cheapest thing you can buy that increases how often you play, because an instrument on a stand gets picked up and an instrument in a case does not. Keep it away from radiators and exterior walls.

The behavior it changes

Ten seconds between deciding to play and playing. That difference decides whether a guitar is played daily or weekly.

Where to put it

Away from radiators, direct sun and exterior walls. Those are the three places where humidity and temperature swing hardest.

The alternative that also works

A wall hanger, if the wall is yours to use. Either beats a case for anything played regularly.

The questions players ask

Is a stand safe for the finish?

Some rubber and foam cushions react with nitrocellulose finishes over time. On the polyurethane finishes used at this price it is not a concern.

Stand or wall hanger?

A hanger saves floor space and is fine for a normal instrument. A stand is easier to move and does not need a wall you are allowed to drill.
