Fender’s long-running beginner dreadnought: mahogany body, walnut fingerboard, X-bracing and die-cast tuners, with a two-year Fender warranty behind it.
What it amounts to The safe first steel-string: a real Fender warranty, tuners that hold, and a body that projects.
The CD-60 has been Fender’s answer to the first-guitar question for years, and the reasons are unglamorous and sound.
The body is a dreadnought — the large, square-shouldered shape that projects best unamplified — with mahogany construction, a walnut fingerboard and X-bracing. Fender names the neck profile as C-shaped, which tells you more about how it will feel in the hand than any adjective.
The die-cast tuners are the part that earns its place. A beginner tunes constantly, and cheap open-gear tuners slip and turn unevenly; the frustration is often blamed on the player. Fender also states a two-year warranty, which is worth more here than on an instrument nobody will play daily.
What the listing does not say is whether the top is solid, and this page does not fill that gap. A solid top keeps opening up for years; a laminate stays where it started. When a maker uses solid wood, they usually say so in full.
In its favor, and its limits
Strengths
Die-cast tuners hold tuning far better than the open gears usual at this price
A dreadnought body projects, which is what makes practice satisfying without an amp
A named neck profile — C-shape — so you know what your hand is getting
Two-year manufacturer warranty on a first guitar
Compromises
The listing does not state whether the top is solid, and we do not assume it

The questions players ask
Is the top solid?
The listing describes the body as mahogany without stating solid or laminated construction for the top. Manufacturers who use a solid top usually say “solid spruce top” in full, and where a listing does not say it, this site does not either.
Why do the tuners matter so much?
A beginner tunes several times a session. Die-cast tuners hold better and turn more precisely than cheap open gears, which is the difference between an instrument that feels reliable and one that feels broken.

Small dreadnought · cutaway · linden body · bag and accessories
A deliberately smaller dreadnought — shorter, narrower and about 1.5 cm (0.6 in) shallower — with a cutaway, sold with a bag, strap, spare strings, two picks and a truss-rod key.
Best for: A younger player, a smaller frame, or a guitar that has to travel.
The nylon-string counterpart: a full-size classical with a wider fingerboard, spruce top and meranti back and sides — softer on the fingers and a different instrument entirely.
Best for: Classical and fingerstyle, or anyone whose fingertips are the obstacle.
