Yes, and a height-adjustable one. Playing from a dining chair changes the angle of the thighs and the reach of the pedals, which affects technique from the first session and is uncomfortable within twenty minutes.
Why a chair does not work
A chair with a back and a flat seat holds the hips at the wrong angle and stops the legs moving independently. Pedal control comes from the ankles and the thighs, and both need freedom.
What to look for
Height adjustment across a useful range, a stable tripod base, and a seat firm enough not to sink over an hour.
The comfort test
If you shift position constantly after fifteen minutes, the height is wrong before the throne is.
The questions players ask
What height should it be?
Roughly where your thighs slope slightly downwards and your feet rest naturally on the pedals. That is a personal setting, which is why adjustability matters more than the number.
Do any kits include one?
Two in our catalog do — the Donner DED-200Lite and the Axus AXK4 — which removes a purchase and a delivery.
