Fender is on this site three times — the CD-60 acoustic, the Frontman 10G and
the Champion II 25 — and the pattern across them is unusually consistent.
What we found writing the reviews
The listings name the parts that decide the feel. The CD-60 states a
C-shaped neck, walnut fingerboard, mahogany body and X-bracing; the Champion II
names its 8-inch Fender Special Design speaker. Neck profiles and speaker
diameters are exactly the specifications that are usually left out at this
price.
The warranty is stated. Two years, printed on the listings themselves. That
is worth more on an entry instrument than on an expensive one, because it is
the entry instrument that gets carried, knocked and left in a cold room.
Every Fender product on this site was absent from the US store at the time
of writing, which is the opposite of what most readers expect from an American
brand. It reflects how Fender sells in its home market rather than anything
about the products.
The Frontman 10G is worth buying deliberately, not just accepting inside a
pack: a gain control, an overdrive switch and a headphone socket is the exact
feature set a first amplifier needs, and the headphone socket is what decides
whether practice happens at ten at night.
