PreSonus

Desktop monitors that state where their low end stops

PreSonus appears twice, and both pages carry the same warning in different proportions: a monitor is only as accurate as the room around it.

What we found writing the reviews

They are sold as pairs, and they say so. Professional monitors are conventionally sold one at a time using a photograph of two, which catches buyers out constantly. Both Eris models state a stereo pair.

The low-frequency limit is published. The Eris 3.5 states 80 Hz – 20 kHz. Kick drums and bass guitars live below that, so mixes made on them need checking elsewhere — a limitation every small monitor has and few listings admit.

Acoustic tuning controls are on both. High and low adjustments compensate for a desk against a wall, which is where nearly every home studio actually sits.

Availability is the weak point. Neither model had a US or UK offer at the time of writing. On those two stores our links go to a local search rather than to a reference that does not exist.

Every PreSonus product we have reviewed

  • PreSonus AudioBox GO

XMAX-L preamp with 50 dB of gain · 24-bit/96 kHz · bus powered · Studio One included

The only interface here to publish how much gain its preamp has — 50 dB, adjustable, with switchable 48 V — in a bus-powered USB-C box with 24-bit/96 kHz converters and Studio One Prime included.

Best for: Recording a voice and a guitar on a laptop, a tablet or a phone, where the gain figure matters more than the sample rate.

  • PreSonus Eris 3.5 Gen 2

    Pair · 3.5" woofer · 50 W · front headphone jack

The desktop pair: 3.5-inch woven composite woofers, 1-inch silk dome tweeters, 50 W total, 80 Hz – 20 kHz, with acoustic tuning controls and a headphone socket on the front panel.

Best for: A desk where space is the binding constraint and headphones are the main tool anyway.

  • PreSonus Eris 5BT Gen 2

    Pair · 5" woofer · 100 W · Bluetooth · headphone out

The largest monitors in this group: 5-inch woofers, 1-inch tweeters, 100 W total, with RCA and 6.35 mm (0.25 in) TRS inputs, a headphone output and Bluetooth streaming.

Best for: A room with a meter or so behind the speakers, doing both music production and listening.

    8.4/10

  • PreSonus Studio 24c

Six sample rates published to 192 kHz · two XMAX-L preamps · MIDI In/Out · four LED meters

The most completely specified interface on this shelf: six sample rates listed to 192 kHz, two XMAX-L preamps, MIDI In and Out, four ladder LED meters, front-panel output levels and both USB-C cables in the box.

Best for: A home studio with two sources, a MIDI keyboard and a pair of monitors, where the figures should be on the page.
